SAKE At the Sushi Bar

Catching a cold is not pretty. Why couldn't I have caught a big chocolate fudge brownie falling from the sky?It is hard to catch a breath when you're a full time mother and hard worker. I invest in my skills; video and photography which get me gigs here and there, but lately business is slow. I see my husband Arun working on his corner desk doing his best to maintain our household together. He says he doesn't mind as long as I show him love and respect. I know my love and my heavenly cooking fills his heart, but a mom of three and with a weak immune system can't help but to feel stressed! Arun recently took us to a local sushi bar. I suggested a sake bomb for us to share during dinner. He smiled and ordered it right away. I have tried sake before and remember feeling warm and relaxed, but Jasmin tea is our usual. I learned to appreciate Jasmin tea, but was curious to learn about sake. When the Japanese smiley waiter brings us our hot sake and Sapporo beer, he taps my husband on the shoulder and says "Sake is good for you". After drinking most of it, i couldn't agree more. I was feeling under the weather all week, and right away I felt better. I went back with a girlfriend instead of our local bar that week. She laughed at me for believing that the sake relived me of a lot of stress. When we ordered hot sake, the Japanese man laughed and asked " You stressed? your boyfriend get you mad?" I sighed and answered"something like that". he laughed again and making me feel like a silly girl. When we took our first shot, i explained to Amber that after doing online research on sake I learned that like avocado and hemp oils, it contains essential amino acids which help strengthen the immune system. Sake, also known as rice wine has healing benefits. She was impressed by the good news and compared it to medicine. The Japanese man appeared out of nowhere and firmly objected. He said " Sake not medicine, ha! Sake is vitamin!" And laughed at us making us feel tinier and tinier each time, for we did not deserve to drink such a sacred drink from his perspective.

OVERCOME YOUR STRESS

Living in Southern California, we have to hustle daily to keep our monthly income. With rent, bills and food, it can get stressful since we are always working hard to make a healthy living.
It's time to take some time for yourself ... so today, after work, we packed some drinking water and ordered some Mexican Food and took lunch to the beach. I let the kids run around in the sand with their bare feet as i enjoyed my spicy salsa and crunchy tortilla chips. The kids got worn out after being under the sun and playing with the warm sand. My fiance and I enjoyed the sunset and breeze from the waives. Sun is very important!!! And so is fresh air!! BREATH!! Enjoy the free things life has to offer, it only takes a day, but heals the soul, mind and body for a whole lifetime.

A healthy type of fat

I always start my cooking with olive oil on the pan. Its my secret Ingredient next to chopped up garlic and sliced onions for the taste nobody can resist. Using extra virgin olive oil in my cooking makes a difference in the taste and quality of my home cooked meals.

The nutritional benefits of olives and olive oil are directly related to the types of
fatty acid and the significant amounts of anti-oxidants derived from Vitamins E and K.

Not only can a good extra virgin olive oil lower your risk of heart disease and cancer,
research has shown that it also provides a wide range of anti-inflammatory benefits that
can positively impact illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, and asthma.

My favorite olive oil meal is orange chicken. I use real oranges and their juice and slightly dip the chicken in egg and flour for a delicious crispy orange chicken. Yum!! (Compliments plain white rice.)

The Teachings of Buddah

Chapter 1 - THE TWIN VERSES

7. He who lives looking for pleasures only, his senses uncontrolled, immoderate in his food, idle, and weak, Mara (the tempter) will certainly overthrow him, as the wind throws down a weak tree.

8. He who lives without looking for pleasures, his senses well controlled, moderate in his food, faithful and strong, him Mara will certainly not overthrow, any more than the wind throws down a rocky mountain.
